The Archibull Prize Competition 2017!

The Archibull Prize is a Picture You in Agriculture- Art4Agriculture initiative which is supported by the Department of Primary Industries, Aussie Farmers Foundation, AWI, Cotton Australia, Local Land Services, Cotton Research and Development Corporation and the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW.

The Archibull Prize is an innovative hands on program that sees urban and rural schools research an agricultural industry and express their findings through artwork- specifically a fibreglass cow.

The Archibull Prize aims to be a highly motivational project, which caters for many learning styles and differences in student entry levels, encouraging the development of big ideas through co-operation and teamwork.

Schools are provided with a life-size fibreglass cow on which the students create an artwork about an allocated food industry and the farmers who produce it.  Beaudesert State High School has been allocated cotton as their industry.

Students will also produce a web blog which documents the journey of their artwork and their learnings. They are encouraged to include photos, text, videos, PowerPoint & other multimedia. Both creativity and variety are encouraged.

The students then create a multimedia animation or infographic with a powerful message on one of four blog topics that will resonates with people of all ages that is in relation to the industry that they are allocated.

The 2017 competition theme’ Feeding, Clothing and Powering a Hungry Nation is a shared responsibility’ along with the allocated industry will be what the students need to focus on to design their Archibull.
